DESCRIPTION:The Saratoga Automobile Museum\, known coast to coast for it
s unique "multiple major exhibit changes a year" policy\, is starting a
new tradition with its latest project\, the "Automotive ART-WALL". \n\n"
Artists are encouraged to express their love of the automobile\, explore
history\, highlight aesthetics of particularly beautiful automobiles or
individual parts of automobiles or invoke nostalgia for events of the p
ast\," offered museum Art Director Brandon Salls. "We encourage artists
to embrace all automobiles: new or old\, exorbitantly expensive or basic
transportation\, foreign or domestic\, exotic or mundane. And we ask th
em to do it in ways that can be understood by both automotive and art en
thusiasts." \n\nThe ART-WALL program is the latest step in the museum’s
long-term involvement with the visual arts. Past mini-exhibits featured
original paintings in a number of styles as well as automotive related p
hotography displays and were very well received by museum visitors. \n\n
The Saratoga Automobile Museum is currently accepting entries of origina
l\, automotive themed artwork\, with the first examples to go on display
in early 2009. Space is limited\, so artists interested in displaying t
heir work are asked to submit samples immediately. \n\nA jpg of each pai
nting\, photograph\, illustration or sculpture should be sent to brandon
.salls@saratogaautomuseum.org. Salls is available at 518.587.1935 X24 du
ring business hours to address any questions or concerns.

DESCRIPTION:The featured exhibit in the Racing in New York gallery is TH
E SYRACUSE MILE\, which looks at the historic New York State Fairgrounds
dirt mile through text panels\, numerous photos\, showcases and three c
ars: The 1933 Ford coupe driven to one of his record six State Fair Cham
pionship wins by Rome\, NY legend Cliff Kotary\, the controversial "Batm
obile" with which Florida’s Gary Balough devastated the field at Super D
IRT week to completely change the look of modified racing and an immacul
ate USAC Championship Car driven by Jim Hurtubise and many other open co
ckpit stars. \n\nThe narrow\, gritty Syracuse mile has made heroes of ma
ny but has also been the scene of devastating crashes\, as the venerable
speedway is twice the size of most New York speedways and the speeds ar
e well above those recorded at other area speedways. For most competitor
s\, a win at Syracuse represents the high point of their career and each
and every race is fiercely contested.

DESCRIPTION:Saratoga Automobile Museum to Celebrate the History of \nthe
“Little Tree” Air Freshener with New Exhibit\n\nSaratoga Springs\, NY –
Like windshield washer fluid and a spare tire\, “Little Tree” brand air
fresheners have been a required accessory for generations of automobile
owners around the nation – and the world. The Saratoga Automobile Muse
um will celebrate this automotive industry icon with the opening of a ne
w exhibit\, focused on the history of the “Little Tree” air freshener.
The exhibit opens on May 16\, 2009 in conjunction with the Spring Auto S
how and runs through November 2009.\n\n“The Saratoga Automobile Museum i
s thrilled with this opportunity to celebrate “Little Trees\,” an automo
tive icon manufactured in New York State\,” said Alan Edstrom\, the Muse
um’s Director of Programs and Events. “Car models may come and go\, but
for over 50 years\, “Little Trees” have held a rock steady place in pop
culture\, becoming part of automotive history.” \n\nEdstrom also announ
ced that in conjunction with the exhibit\, a limited edition Saratoga Au
tomobile Museum Avenue of the Pines “Little Tree” air freshener will be
available for sale exclusively at the Museum. Not coincidentally\, the
Museum is located on the beautiful Avenue of the Pines in the Saratoga S
pa State Park.\n\nThe birth of the “Little Tree” air freshener began in
1952 when a milk truck driver in Watertown\, NY complained to a local ch
emist about the smell of spilled milk. That chemist was Julius Sämann w
ho had spent years extracting essential oils from pine needles in Canada
. Sämann quickly discovered that putting high-quality fragrance on poro
us card stock was highly effective in making a quality air freshener. H
e soon sketched the now famous “Little Tree” shape and coined the name C
ar-Freshner\, and an American legend was born.\n\nCar-Freshner Corporati
on\, headquartered in Watertown\, NY\, has grown steadily over the years
with sales throughout the world. The original Royal Pine “Little Tree”
has expanded to include more than 50 fragrances\, including Vanillaroma
\, Black Ice and New Car Scent. Additionally Car-Freshner offers many o
ther types of innovative air fresheners with every imaginable technology
and aroma. \n\n“We knew that we wanted to work with the Saratoga Autom
obile Museum\, one of the top automotive museums in the world\, to celeb
rate the “Little Tree” and its place in history\,” said Dawn Cole\, Mark
eting Manager for Car-Freshner Corporation. “It’s amazing to realize th
at “Little Trees” have made such an impact on pop culture\, having been
featured in numerous movies\, television programs and magazines.”\n\nFor
more information about “Little Trees” brand air fresheners\, visit www.
little-trees.com . To learn more about upcoming events and programs at
the Saratoga Automobile Museum\, go to www.saratogaautomuseum.org .
