(September 19, 2008 –Las Vegas, Nev.) Olya Banchik, DDS is accepting nominations for the 2008 Survivor Smile Makeover. Women who reside in the Las Vegas Valley and are breast or ovarian cancer survivors can nominate themselves or be nominated by friends or family to receive a complimentary smile makeover. Applications are available online at www.banchikdental.com and must submitted to Dr. Banchik’s practice by mail (1825 Village Center Circle, Suite 150, Las Vegas, NV 89134), email (info@banchikdental.com) or in person by November 30, 2008.

A photo of the nominee and a 250-word maximum length essay explaining the nominee’s experience with breast or ovarian cancer and how a smile makeover would enhance her life must accompany applications. Those submitting nominations will include a phone number and/or email address. Dr. Banchik and her staff will review nominations and winners will be announced December 15, 2008. Burbank Dental Labs is also a sponsor of this event.

“My mother, mother-in-law and close friend were diagnosed with breast cancer within a two year period. They handled their surgeries, chemo and sickness with strength and grace. Their courage was constantly being tested, but they didn’t falter,” explains Dr. Banchik. “I want to enable a woman who has won this battle to have a smile that projects her inner beauty and strength and expresses her happiness for life.”

What is a Smile Makeover?
A smile makeover involves careful consideration of one’s facial appearance, skin tone, hair color, teeth, gum tissue, and lips. The process may include some or all of the following: teeth whitening, new porcelain crowns or veneers, old silver fillings replaced with tooth colored composite restorations, tooth reshaping, straightening one’s teeth through invisible braces and replacing missing teeth with implants and partial dentures.
The recipient of the smile makeover will also receive a smile rejuvenation procedure, where the natural tooth length is added back to the smile, naturally opening up the face. The appearance of wrinkles and lines are lessened dramatically, making ones lips appear fuller. This is a non-surgical procedure that requires no recovery.

The staff at Rebelbooks is working hard to make a difference this holiday season. Rebelbooks will be partnering with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Homeless Liaison Team, Lutheran Social Services, Catholic Charities, and Family Promise to provide the homeless community with warm winter items such as coats, blankets, and socks.
At this time of year, it is important to appreciate the blessings in our lives and to help those who are less fortunate. The Rebelbooks team looks forward to coming together once again to help a part of our community that is often overlooked. Rebelbooks has a history of organizing and participating in community outreach events such as running in last year’s Las Vegas Half-Marathon where the Rebelbooks staff raised over $5,000 for a fellow student in need. This type of teamwork among the employees also translates to excellent customer service and a friendly atmosphere for all Rebelbooks patrons.
Rebelbooks will be collecting all donated items from December 1st through December 13th. On December 14th, the Rebelbooks staff will be personally distributing all donated items directly to the homeless community.
You do not have to be a UNLV student to donate, so please spread the word to your friends and family and share the gift of giving with the less fortunate this season.

Springs Preserve's Winter Lights Festival
