Low-impact fitness exercise

Quincy Park District will offer a low-impact fitness exercise class, beginning Sept. 8 and continuing through Oct. 23. The class meets at 5:30 p.m. for one hour at Emerson Community Center, 1310 Washington in Quincy, on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week. Westview Golf Course will host the Quincy Men’s Senior City Championship Sept. 13 – 14 at Westview. Farm Pond Workshop

Duane Friend, University of IL Extension Natural Resource Management Educator, will be on hand to address control of specific problem aquatic plants such as algae, duckweek, and watermeal, as well as conduct a general discussion of aquatic herbicides, cost, and methods of application. New London Christian Church Rummage Sale

LaHarpe Historical Society Lincoln Reenactment

The La Harpe Historical Society is sponsoring along with Illinois Arts Council and Two River Arts Council, a reenactment of Abe Lincoln speaking here 150 years ago. Max and Donna Daniels will be impersonating the Lincolns. The event is Friday Oct 24, 1:30. There is special music, Lincoln souvenir buttons drawn by local talent. This will take place in front of the M.E. church, 102 N. First St. In case of bad weather, it will be held in the gym. At 3:30 there will be a tea, with the Lincoln's performing again. Receipes of Civil War cookies will be served. Hardtack will be on display. Each table will be served by a hostess in period clothing.
