2008 Navy Week Celebration

Government & Politics The United States Navy is proud to announce that ALBUQUERQUE has been selected to serve as a host city for a 2008 Navy Week celebration. Each year, the Navy selects a handful of cities across America to thank its citizens for their support of the world’s finest maritime force While no ships will be docking along I-40, our F/A-18 flight simulators, SEAL Accelerator and Navy Dive Tank could give people a good feeling of what it’s like to serve in the U.S. Navy. Navy Week celebrations also include performances by Navy bands, drill teams and a visit by Navy leadership. But the stars of the show are our Sailors from your area who are brought home for a hero’s welcome. Sailors will visit local schools to talk about their journeys around the world while serving in the Navy. They will also visit terminally ill children in local hospitals to deliver ship ball caps as part of the “Caps for Kids” program. Sunday, September 7, 2008 – Tuesday, September 23, 2008.
