Takes place during library hours, September 1 - October 28, 2008.
During the five years Sala Garncarz was incarcerated in work camps during World War II, she hid more than 300 letters, photographs, postcards and other documents from her Nazi captors.
This traveling exhibition was inspired by Letters to Sala: A Young Woman’s Life in Nazi Labor Camps, presented at The New York Public Library from March 7 to June 17, 2006. Support has been provided by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, the French Children of the Holocaust Foundation, The David Berg Foundation and the Robert and Trudy Gottesman Philanthropic Fund. Unless otherwise indicated, the letters, photographs, and documents in the exhibition are drawn from the Sala Garncarz Kirschner Collection, donated by the Kirschner family in April 2005, to the Dorot Jewish Division of The New York Public Library. During the five years Sala Garncarz was incarcerated in work camps during World War II, she hid more than 300 letters, photographs, postcards and other documents from her Nazi captors.
This traveling exhibition was inspired by Letters to Sala: A Young Woman’s Life in Nazi Labor Camps, presented at The New York Public Library from March 7 to June 17, 2006. Support has been provided by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, the French Children of the Holocaust Foundation, The David Berg Foundation and the Robert and Trudy Gottesman Philanthropic Fund. Unless otherwise indicated, the letters, photographs, and documents in the exhibition are drawn from the Sala Garncarz Kirschner Collection, donated by the Kirschner family in April 2005, to the Dorot Jewish Division of The New York Public Library. During the five years Sala Garncarz was incarcerated in work camps during World War II, she hid more than 300 letters, photographs, postcards and other documents from her Nazi captors.
This traveling exhibition was inspired by Letters to Sala: A Young Woman’s Life in Nazi Labor Camps, presented at The New York Public Library from March 7 to June 17, 2006. Support has been provided by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, the French Children of the Holocaust Foundation, The David Berg Foundation and the Robert and Trudy Gottesman Philanthropic Fund. Unless otherwise indicated, the letters, photographs, and documents in the exhibition are drawn from the Sala Garncarz Kirschner Collection, donated by the Kirschner family in April 2005, to the Dorot Jewish Division of The New York Public Library. The Music Study Club of the Stroudsburgs has announced that they will offer two awards for music student residing in Monroe County. One, in the amount of $700, is offered to a graduating senior majoring in music at an accredited university. The second, in the amount of $150, is offered to a student to attend a summer music camp.

Dog walkers are urgently needed at the Stroudsburg SPCA Adoption Center. Volunteers are needed to walk the dogs in the morning and afternoon. Those who are interested may choose the shift they prefer on a regular or occasional basis.
FOMCHA is a group of volunteers dedicated to improving the lives of homeless and abandoned dogs and cats which are housed at the Stroudsburg SPCA. They are also seeking volunteers willing to walk sheltered dogs in the morning or evening, as well as transport dogs to vet appointments, temporary foster homes, fund raising and adoption days. Raccoon Ridge Hawk Migration Field Trip

Environmental Educator Brian Hardiman will lead a hike to Raccoon Ridge, a beautiful mountain look-out in nearby New Jersey. Participants will study the hawk migration and learn about other wildlife of the area. Brian has gained an intimate knowledge of “Coon” from over 20 years of hawk watching there. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. Refunds will be given only if notification is made at least one week prior to the program. Access to Raccoon Ridge involves a challenging, very strenuous and rocky uphill hike of 1 ½ miles. Binoculars, food and water, camera, sturdy hiking shoes, and hat and sunscreen are recommended.
