Summer Book Club

Library Our Summer Book Club pick is The Library Book by Susan Orlean. This true-crime text investigates the 1986  arson of the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) that damaged and destroyed more than 1 million books. To this day, the crime remains unsolved. The author writes about the fire and its aftermath, but she also discusses the history of the LAPL, casting light on the crucial role that public libraries and librarians occupy in society. The Lost Collection: Charles I and Whitehall Palace, a Digital Initiative
